Steven Moore an introduction

Steven Moore — author, literary critic, editor, bookseller — was born outside Los Angeles in 1951, moved to Littleton, Colorado, in 1963, and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1969. He earned a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Northern Colorado (1973, 1974), and later a Ph.D. from Rutgers University (1988). From 1988 until 1996 he was Managing Editor of the Dalkey Archive Press/ Review of Contemporary Fiction , and has at various periods in his life worked as a bookseller for both independents and chains. He lives alone in Ann Arbor , Michigan .

He is the author/editor of several books and essays on modern literature — list of publications here — and between 2004 and 2012 wrote a two-volume study entitled The Novel: An Alternative History. The first volume appeared in 2010, and the second —which won the Christian Gauss Award for excellence in literary scholarship — appeared in 2013. He continues to write occasional essays and book reviews.
